"best of the bad days" was written during a time a time I had relapsed on drugs and alcohol and recorded during the months during that time period up until I got sober again recently. there were dozens of songs that could have made this album and the songs that were chosen were recorded numerous times but the recordings that fit best were ones that were recorded straight to tape and stripped backed completely.

the themes of "best of the bad days" explore similar topics as "a crane passed me by" but in a much more vulnerable and honest way. there's much more experimentation amongst these songs and it felt natural to be more abstract this time around.
